Projects as part of this programme include a new cycle/footbridge over the River Ribble to replace the Old Tram Bridge, new cycle paths and walkways across the city making them greener, safer and more user-friendly including segregated routes in specified areas, major public realm works at Friargate South, and a new mobility hub to provide a secure cycling facility at Preston bus station.
Preston’s City Council (PCC) Towns Fund has received an investment of £20.9 million, which is crucial for the successful implementation of Preston’s City Investment Plan. This funding will act as a catalyst for positive change, supporting the city’s goals for sustainable and inclusive growth. It aims to maximise Preston’s strengths, address challenges, and create a more inclusive environment.
